Naoko Kikuchi & Taiko Saito

Naoko Kikuchi (koto), Taiko Saito (marimba)

St. Josef

Only those who have attained special super abilities and a certain level of maturity on the koto can become uchideshi. NAOKO KIKUCHI learned the instrument (like Miyama McQueen Tokita and the great Michiyo Yagi) from the legendary koto master Kazue Sawai – OMMM! Kikuchi was in Moers last time with Dr. Umezu, in 2017 – as part of Eric Schaefer‘s romantic research quartet „Kyoto mon amour“, where she was able to prove her unique capacity for chronokinesis – WHOOOSH! In duo with percussionist and marimbist Taiko Saito, who, during an expansive solo in the scope of a rehearsal with Potsa Lotsa XL, attained the superhuman power of musical pyrokinesis (strangely enough, she RECEIVED THE GERMAN JAZZ AWARD FOR THIS VERY THING just about a month ago – TADA!), the two are also capable of making use of the 2.9 second reverberation in the 150-year-old St. Joseph‘s church in just such a way that the emergence of a simply beautiful and autonomous music inspiring a new sense of fundamental trust is triggered! So, basically NOTHING really EARTH-SHATTERING
