A moderated conversation between the historian Andreas Biefang and the festival organiser Marie Blobel.
Humor is like a good saxophone solo, says Andreas Biefang, who analyses connections between festivals like Peitz in the East of the republic and Moers in the West. He converses with Marie Blobel (leader of Jazzwerkstatt Peitz), who took over the counterpart to Moers in eastern Germany from her father Ulli Blobel. Freejazz- or Newjazz-Festivals once worked as some sort of training camping for freer ways of both thinking and living. What does it need today? What can – or even need – Festivals do?
