Three old men, white as snow: …NOTHING MIND-BLOWING, far as I can see. The jazz festival really was a whole lot better too back in the day. In the park, yeeaaah, with the big circus tent, the whole atmosphere. That‘s all gone now. Na, I meant on the old castle grounds, way way back. Ah, really? It used to be on the castle grounds too? I only know the time in the ice arena, always such greeeeaaat sound. I still have recordings, at least I think so, have to look in the attic… And all the folks that used to play, ANYWAYS THAT WAS BETTER BACK THEN… With the wooden fence! Ah, that was up front here, in the city park – with the nice lake and the orange awningoverthestage. Yeeeahh, that‘s where the crew from Wuppertal and the East German cats used to play – MANOMAN! They really went to town! (Pausing, eyes wide) I believe that was also the year Sun Ra played and made the rain stop, far as I know. And the crazy Japanese cats (or was it the Russians from Arkhangelsk?)… Or, listen: is that everything now, I mean this year? Conny Bauer didn‘t perform here till ‚79, and Brötzmann‘s boy didn‘t show up till the early ‚80s, right? Massaker, mate! And here, Achim Krämer, I remember him too, sure… aaaanduh… who are all these other folks: Masayo Koketsu, Alexey Kruglov, Kellen Mills, Lesley Mok, Bart Maris? „Melancholia doesn‘t pay!“ WHUESH! All Moerxperten most definitely share a single superpower: We know when what with who was truly legendary and an absolute doozy. We don‘t quite precisely know anymore where that one incredible concert actually took place. We all know that the atmosphere and all the stuff going on in the park was beloved by EVERYONE and that back in the day, meaning up until – hmm, which year was it? – that actually only great people played and WE ALL USED TO RUN INTO A LOT MORE FRIENDS BACK IN THE DAY TOO, BECAUSE THE BEER WAS TASTIER BACK THEN AS WELL. And it‘s the city‘s fault. Everything‘s their fault. They just don‘t want to be bothered. And who‘s supposed to pay for all of it ? Whatt aya mean, Brözzfrau?
