Multiple Voices performs the monumental work Spem in alium with just two singers. Terry Wey and Ulfried Staber, who together have a vocal range of three and a half octaves, each take on two of the choir's five voices. At the heart of the project is the idea of listening to the work horizontally rather than vertically, so that the audience can follow the compositional process. The 40 voices are sung individually and distributed around the room via loudspeakers, with the motet unfolding piece by piece.
