aerosolo #4 – reluctant games
Composed and improvised elements are deeply and uniquely enmeshed in the work of Wolfgang Mitterer – after all, the Viennese artist is equally at home at big new music festivals as he is in the jazz and improv scenes. The unexpected (including that which surprises his interpreters) is a vital component of his music. His piece “reluctant games”, which reflects the loneliness of the soloist, has been continually developed by Mitterer over the course of 35 years. Subject to constant re-conception, the piece’s composed segments make it a veritable roller-coaster ride for the keyboardist.
