In the late 1980s, the humble Upper Bavarian town of Weilheim suddenly became the hotspot of the German indie scene. The Acher brothers had founded The Notwist and teamed up with numerous local comrades-in-arms. Although the band tours internationally nowadays, they have remained connected to their idyllic native region, releasing their records on a local label for decades. It doesn’t always have to be Berlin, after all. In Moers, the sound nerds will be sharing their Messier Objects project, which demonstrates the band’s enormous range in impressive fashion. The expressive potential of this German indie institution reaches from theatre and film music via electro-samples all the way to angular guitar rock.
