aerosolo #1 – Chilly Gonzales
Chilly Gonzales, Grammy-winning Canadian pianist and entertainer currently living in Europe, is known as much for the intimate piano touch of best-selling albums Solo Piano I and Solo Piano II as for his showmanship and composition for award-winning stars. Gonzo, as he is known to close collaborators, aims to be a man of his time, approaching the piano with classical and jazz training but with the attitude of a rapper.
The most charming entertainer in jazz, world record holder for durational performance (27 hours in Paris in 2009!), whiz kid well-versed in all styles: the image the world has of Chilly Gonzales is an iridescent one, and Chilly has played a key role in sketching and fleshing it out over the years. Alas, behind all the irony, behind the humour, behind the constructed figure that is Chilly Gonzales, a sensitive artist emerges in his intimate solo performances, one capable of utterly captivating his audience with wonderful miniatures, compositions and genial improvisations. We are excited to watch Chilly reach right into the hearts of fans and new acquaintances alike, through TV cameras and screens both large and small this Whitsun weekend.
